Environmental Policy

At Gran Camping Zarautz, we understand that our success and well-being are closely linked to the health of the environment surrounding us.

Located within the natural environment of Iñurritza in Zarautz, we are situated in an area of extraordinary ecological value, renowned for its biodiversity and natural beauty. This unique location not only defines our surroundings but also intensifies our responsibility towards its preservation.

The Iñurritza environment is a biotope, a protected space housing a rich variety of flora and fauna, and its preservation is crucial to maintaining the ecological balance of the region. We recognise that our presence in this area requires a firm commitment to sustainability and environmental protection. Therefore, we have adopted a series of practices and policies designed to minimise our impact and contribute to the conservation of this valuable ecosystem.

Our Environmental Commitments Include:

Integration of Sustainable Practices: We are committed to integrating sustainable practices across all our operations. Every aspect of our operation is designed to reduce our ecological footprint and protect the natural environment where we are located.

We implement the following measures:

Water Conservation

Showers and water sources are equipped with push-button systems to minimise unnecessary water usage.

Energy Efficiency

We use low-consumption electrical appliances in all our facilities, and almost all our lighting is LED, significantly reducing our energy footprint.

Ecological Cleaning Products

All cleaning products used have ecological certification, ensuring their environmental safety.

Recycling

We offer selective waste collection and inform our guests about separation and recycling practices (informative panels). We have containers for organic waste, plastic, paper, general waste, and batteries.

Collaboration with Local Initiatives

We work closely with Kodigo Etikoa, a local organisation dedicated to environmental protection and social development. This collaboration helps us promote responsible practices and support initiatives that benefit both the community and the natural environment.

Green Key Certification

In 2024, we obtained the Green Key certification, recognising our efforts to operate in an environmentally responsible manner. This certification validates our commitment to best practices in sustainability and environmental management.

.

Education and Awareness

We keep our guests informed about the importance of conserving the natural environment surrounding us and provide guidance on how they can contribute to protecting this area. We also inform our guests about citizen initiatives for environmental cleaning and conservation.

We promote the responsible use of natural resources and encourage tourism that respects and values the natural beauty surrounding us.

Support for Local Businesses

During peak season, we organise several local markets for ecological products, supporting local producers and promoting responsible consumption. Most of our suppliers are local or regional.

Sustainable Transport

We inform our guests about sustainable transport options available near the campsite and promote their use (urban bus during peak season). For the rest of the year, Gran Camping Zarautz has a signed collaboration agreement with two local taxi drivers and offers its campers a shuttle service to and from town at a symbolic price, thus encouraging the use of this more ecological and sustainable alternative.

Renewable Energy

Solar panel installation has been carried out to further reduce our energy consumption. The photovoltaic field design has been implemented on different south, east, and west-oriented roofs, ensuring that the entire photovoltaic field can be coplanar with the roofs, maintaining the same inclination and thus reducing the load on the roof itself and its straps.

ASG company has carried out the 52.865 kWp photovoltaic installation, under the incentive programme linked to self-consumption and storage, with renewable energy sources, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

  • The aid received from the European Union was €16,863.94.
  • This installation implies a reduction of 1.59 tonnes of CO2 per year.

Being located in such a valuable natural environment, we understand that our commitment to sustainability is not just a responsibility, but an opportunity to contribute positively to its preservation. We believe our actions can make a significant difference, and we are dedicated to continuously improving our practices to protect and enrich this beautiful environment for future generations.
